Mali: Peasants arrested trying to work on grabbed lands
On April 23, peasants from the communities of Sanamadougou and Saou, located in the region of Ségou and in the zone of the Office du Niger, Mali, were arrested when they tried to prepare their fields for this year's agricultural activities. Their ancestral lands have been grabbed by the company Moulin Moderne du Mali since June 2010. Since then, several families have been impeded from accessing their fields and rely entirely on the solidarity of other villages for their survival.
