Right to food defender Harald Rohr passes away
FIAN International regrets the death of its founding member Reverend Harald Rohr, who guided the organization through uncharted human rights territory.
Harald Rohr was a founding member of FIAN International in Heidelberg in June 1986. Elected as a member of FIAN’s Executive Committee (IEC), he served as treasurer from 1986 until 1998. During this period, the International Secretariat was set up in Heidelberg and the first national sections were founded.
Despite entering, what was in those days, uncharted human rights territory, Harald’s background with Amnesty International and with Brot für die Welt helped him be a solid guiding force for FIAN International.
FIAN International owes a debt of gratitude to Harald. His unwavering commitment to human rights and his determination for justice to prevail, remain as our legacy.
