Mexico: Transnational Corporation takes over lands and the access to water in the area of common land of San Isidro, municipality of San Gabriel, State of Jalisco

300 peasant families of the cooperative (ejido) San Isidro do not have adequate access to productive resources. In 1992 the company Nutrilite, which belongs to the transnational corporation Amway, took over 280 hectares of the ejido, not respecting the law and the rights of the families living in it. Nutrilite established its agricultural company in these lands, constructed a dam and also dug three new wells, thus cutting the water supply of the community. Until now, the peasants have not got access to their lands nor to water.

An international action is needed to appeal to the magistrates of the Ninth Bench of Judges for the revision of the record of the case and all proofs presented by the parties, in order to submit a sentence that respects the constitutional rights of the families.
