India: Yanadis suffer hunger and severe under nourishment in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh.

Forty-five Yanadi families in Chalivendram village in Muttukuru mandal of Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh suffer hunger and severe under nourishment as a result of destruction of their fishing grounds and loss of means of livelihood due to the construction of the Krishnapatnam Port. The malfunctioning of the public distribution system and non implementation of social security programmes has also worsened the situation of the Yanadis.

An international action is needed to address these violations of the right to food in Andhra Pradesh. Please write polite letters to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh requesting him to meet their obligations under the human right to food and guarantee access to food and livelihood resources for all those suffering hunger and under nourishment in Nellore district.
