Honduras: Civil Society Urges Government to Investigate Violence Against Peasants in the Bajo Aguan Valley
FIAN International, together with 94 civil society organisations from 31 countries, requested the Honduran government to re-examine the Clean Development Mechanism Project situated in the Bajo Aguan Valley, due to the violence against peasant communities.
The organisations have expressed their deepest concerns regarding the owner of the project playing a key role in the agrarian conflict in the Bajo Aguan, where 42 individuals affiliated with peasants organizations were killed between September 2009 and October 2011. So far, no progress has been made in the investigation of these crimes.
