Honduras – Bajo Aguán: International Networks Denounce Ongoing Killings and Severe Human Rights Violations
Civil society organizations have jointly signed an international statement against the reigning violence and impunity in the Bajo Aguán Valley (Honduras), where killings of rural farmers and other severe human rights violations continue to occur.
Following the International Investigation Mission that was sent to the Bajo Aguán region from February 25 to March 4, 2011 to examine human rights violations, it is clear that death threats, kidnappings, disappearances and killings continue to occur with absolute impunity. At this time there is still no fair and lasting solution to this agrarian conflict on the horizon.
