FIAN Calls Upon Human Rights Council to Renew Mandate of Special Rapporteur for the Right to Food
FIAN International presented an oral statement during the Human Rights Council’s interactive dialogue with the U.N. Special Rapporteur for the Right to Food during the Human Rights Council’s 22nd session.
FIAN welcomes the new report of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food on “The Right to Food and Women Rights” and call upon states to apply the Tenure Guidelines on Land, Fisheries and Forests. Moreover FIAN urges Human Rights Council’s member states to renew the mandate of the Special Rapporteur. The renewal will contribute towards the adoption of a Peasants Rights Declaration, and would also support the struggle against land grabbing while strengthening the implementation of the Extraterritorial Obligatons of States.
