Ecuador: The dam Baba threatens the right to food and to water of the communities in the province Los Ríos

December 2006, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Environment gave the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht the environment license for the construction of the dam Baba in the province of Los Ríos, without previously consulting the communities affected by this project. The sole purpose of this dam is to transfer water from the basin Baba to the dam Daule – Peripa. The Baba Project could have serious social and environmental impacts in the whole Baba basin and will affect more than 30.000 women and men peasants and fisheries communities settled in this basin.  

Please defend the right to food and to water of the population that live in the Baba basin, sending the attached letter to demand the President Rafael Correa the cancellation of this project.
