World Food Day, an opportunity to reflect on corporate influence

In the last two decades, worldwide efforts towards eradicating hunger have achieved the decline of undernourishment by 21.4 percent globally. While such progress must be acknowledged considering the existing and challenging global environment, current approaches to tackling malnutrition are proving to be detrimental to peoples’ human rights. As pointed out by FIAN International’s Secretary General Flavio Valente in ""  an opinion article on the World Food Day, nutrition is being detached from food and the social and cultural context in which food is produced and consumed.

"" Another step towards a declaration for the rural world ""

"" "" In its recently approved resolution, the Human Rights Council (HRC) has complied with its promise to continue work towards adopting a declaration that defends the needs and rights of people in rural areas. The Intergovernmental Working Group's mandate will be extended for two more years. Welcoming this decision, FIAN International, along with La Via Campesina (LCV) and CETIM, ""  will continue to advocate for the immediate adoption of such a declaration.
