Tackling the root causes of malnutrition, the needed step to secure the right to adequate food for all

On September 24, 2014, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) submitted a Consensus Statement to the Open-Ended Working Group for the ""  International Conference on Nutrition 2 (ICN2), which stressed the need for civil society to be recognized as a group in their own right -distinct from the private sector-. Moreover, it highlighted the necessity for a human-rights approach to food and nutrition that guarantees the rights of communities most affected by the different forms of malnutrition to be at the core of policy making, in compliance with internationally agreed human rights obligations.
