Launch of Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition After two years of consultation, the Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition was publicly launched in Austria on 24 June 2013, as part of the Vienna+20 action week, commemorating 20 years of the 1993 UN World Conference on Human Rights.The launch of the network is a milestone in building joint action of public interest civil society organizations and social movements to act in concert for the realization of one of the most violated human rights worldwide - the human right to adequate food and nutrition.   Read more.   FIAN Rejects G8 Hunger Initiatives as False Solutions FIAN International strongly criticizes initiatives on food security and nutrition promoted in connection with this year’s G8 summit hosted by Great Britain.    Read more.   Read related statement by civil society urging the G8 to forego the transparency initiative and instead implement the Guidelines on the Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests. Victory for the Dalit Community of Bajura, Nepal Thirty-five Dalit families from the Bajura district of Nepal are celebrating the return of their home and land certificates, which were fraudulently taken 25 years ago. After a series of positive interventions, on 2 May 2013, the District Development Committee of Bajura decided to allocate 150,000 Nepali Rupees (NPR), approximately 1,300 Euro, towards assisting the Dalit community in getting back their land and housing titles.   Read more.
