FIAN International intervention helps to avoid violence against MST State meeting in Rio Grande do Sul – Brasil

The State Meeting of the Brazilian Landless Movement (MST), in the Rio Grande do Sul, with close to 1500 participants, had been surrounded by almost 1000 heavily armed policemen. The troops, under orders of the local judge, intended to search the premises and the participants for a vaguely described set of items which would have allegedly been robbed by people who supposedly would be taking part in the meeting. Fighting hunger with human rightsWelcome! In this exhibition you will meet some interesting people. Mike, Jésus, Pramila, Alicia, Irio, and Ute live in different parts of the world and they have quite different life stories. Still, they have a few rather simple things in common: they are convinced that the protection of one’s dignity is of greatest value, they envision a world free from hunger and they believe in the power of human rights.
There is nothing very spectacular about their lives. They are people just like you and me, and none of them works miracles. What they do is to dedicate time from their private and professional lives to the millions of people who go hungry every single day.
Take a look. Take your time. Meet some interesting people and maybe join them. There are many ways to get involved and the choice is yours.
